Salut Lisa! Il semble que la fête de Noël est bien passée chez vous! Quels jolis cadeaux! Et...on ne dit plus amuse-gueule? C'est de l'argot? mdr Question de vocabulaire d'un ancien prof de français!...Debbie
RépondreSupprimerHi debbie!
RépondreSupprimerOui,ces 2 jours étaient parfaits mais ils passent bien trop vite.
Concernant ta question,j'espère expliquer cela correctement:
"Amuse-gueule" appartient au registre familier (que l'on utilise toujours);afin d' être "politically correct" on utilise "Amuse-bouche", et dans un registre plus soutenu ce sera "Mise en bouche".
Personnally i use "amuse-bouche".
"Gueule" is a slang word for mouth , ie:"ta gueule!"(=shut up!)but is a correct word when it refers to the mouth of a dog.
French language could be simple but maybe the French Academy decided it wasn't posh enough when it sounds too simple, lol!
I hope my explanation wasn't too long...
A bientôt!
Lisa
Salut Lisa...Je vous remercie! Oui...amuse bouche est beaucoup plus joli! Quant à "would" au passé...je vais essayer d'expliquer:
RépondreSupprimerIt is the English equivalent of the imparfait. It is used for habitual actions in the past which are often translated as "used to" or "would." For example...When I was a little girl, I would spend the summer with my grandmother. We would get up early every morning and then we would feed the chickens. After that, we would collect the eggs and then we would make breakfast for my grandfather. Same as the imparfait...Quand j'étais petite, je passais...etc.
I hope that helps a little! If "would" is used in the past, you can substitute "used to" in its place and it will make sense. How nice to have a real French person that I can ask a question! mdr Meilleurs voeux!!...Debbie
Thanks a lot Debbie, this English lesson helped me!
